I’ve been deep into writing, but not things I can show yet. Recently I’ve been using my collections of things like this as direct inspiration for writing which I can tell you more about soon. Like a lot of people I collected stickers when I was little. I also had a few folders of postcards (my Mum had a lot of cards and postcards so I think I started for that reason). Without being very conscious of it I continued both collections into adulthood and they’ve been quite consistent. I am quite choosy though so there aren’t as many as you might think but I have 500ish cherished postcards and 800ish sheets of stickers. Something about collecting helps me to understand myself I think. I choose things with my gut and then later I look at them and sometimes they’re surprising and informative to me. All gathered together sometimes they give a message. There are a lot of small fine hairs caught in these scans, I really apologise but the idea of photoshopping them out just in case anyone is disturbed is just too much for me :)
Is this interesting to see? I have many more and other collections of different kinds, almost all are papery and flat, so this is a good platform to show more. I’d love to share more so let me know 🎈

Links for more things by Jooyoung Kim and Tommy Brentnall (the artists behind the long crying dog and ‘no more cars’ stickers above).
Also, I watched Being a Human Person this week, the documentary about the Swedish director Roy Andersson making his last film. I really recommend it!
See you soon
These are all so cute and unique! For a while I’d pick up postcards from garage sales, estate sales, or art museums. I still have a box of them that I sometimes pull out to send to a friend or use as a birthday card.
Do you make special trips to search for postcards/stickers, or do you just happen to look for them if you’re somewhere they may be found?
Yes, very interested, Florence. I find this artistic and aesthetic history fascinating.
